Sikh Girls too need to mantain full identity and keep Rehat

While the beauty of Sikhi lies in gender equality and equal freedom & rights for both the sexes(male and female), so is the order of Guru. As women enjoy equal freedom they are also under the same banner of Rehat Maryada.

Nobody neither a Male sikh or Female Sikh is waived from it. Yesterday we appealed Sikh youth (male) to wear turbans and maintain rehat, so is the rehat of kesh that has to be kept by women. Please read the wallpapaper which explains everything:

Note to sikhs: Please take the print out of above wallpaper and paste it in local gurdwaras and spread them to people so that they know what’s right

I think we need to add here also, the shaving of legs and underarms, a practice very common in the West. Our daughters especially need support during their teen years, as their schoolmates can be very cruel about this The names girls get called are hurtful and sometimes obscene. I know. I went through that myself. Dirty, disgusting, repulsive and lesbian were some of the nicer names I was called. The nastier ones are too filthy to list here.

We many times hear this complaint about the plucking/shaving/threading of eyebrows. Let us also encourage our girls and women to keep ALL their hair and then give them that helpful support when they are socially attacked.

    Chardi kala!
