Giani Harinder Singh a sikh preacher
He convincingly dispelled many wrong perceptions which some people had in their minds that Guru Arjan Dev had edited the Guru Granth Sahib before it was finally brought out in September 1604. Guru Arjan Dev, he remarked, had arranged to properly place and position the compositions of the respective Guru Sahibs and other Bhagats and Sufis in Guru Granth Sahib and gave it a shape. The compositions were perfect in every respect and did not require any editing, he emphasized.
Referring to the battles which Guru Gobind Singh had to fight with the army of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, Giani Harinder Singh said that Guru Gobind Singh never initiated and started any battle with anyone. It was the Mughal army which attacked the Sikhs and foisted and forced the battles on them. Guru Gobind Singh had to take up the arms to protect and defend themselves.
Giani Harinder Singh had started delivering divine discourses at the young age of 20 in 1972. He was born at Alwar town in Rajasthan in 1952. The top most Sikh legendary Kathakar, Giani Sant Singh Maskeen, lived at Alwar after migrating from Pakistan from whom Giani Harinder Singh took some initial lessons in Gurmat. Since then he has not looked back. He has the distinction of having visited many times almost all the countries of the world where the Sikhs live since 1978. Just to name a few, he has delivered lectures in the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Philipinnes, Germany, Norway, Spain, France, Italy.
He came to the limelight when the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, a few years back, was hearing a case to determine and define as to who is a Sikh. On his own, Giani Harinder Singh went to the High Court to plead the case and give his opinion based on Gurbani and Sikh tenets and conduct of life. The High Court Judges were reported to be much impressed with his religious knowledge and presentation.
He blamed some of the holders of the Chairs of Sikh studies in some American Universities for damaging the true and good image of Sikhism by projecting wrong and misleading interpretations of Sikh scriptures and Sikh history. Shockingly, these Chairs have been established and funded by rich Sikhs.
The Zee Punjabi Television, the Chahrdi Kala TV of Patiala and Jus Punjabi TV of New York, each telecast his divine discourses everyday for one hour.
