Say YES, So We Don’t Have to say NO: Appeal by United Sikhs

December 26th, 2008 by admin | View Comments | Filed in NGO Watch

In this first coverage of NGO here is an appeal and look on UNITED SIKHS and their works

UNITED SIKHS has never knowingly said ‘NO’ to a cry for help. Say ‘YES’ to our appeal, so we won’t have to say ‘NO’ to those in need. We believe we can’t fight injustice for some and give injustice to others, by looking the other way. Our work has grown in our eight chapters across four continents. We need your help to raise $500,000 for our International Civil and Human Rights advocacy fund and our Humanitarian Disaster Relief Fund, which is depleted as a result of an active year of advocacy and disaster relief. Disasters affect millions of people and change their lives forever. You can make sure the change is not so painful. Your gift brings relief and rights to the needy.

DONATE NOW!

Call Us Toll-free 1-888-243-1690

Humanitarian Relief (Sikh Aid)

You can help victims of disasters like hurricanes, cyclone, floods, and wildfires that leave millions homeless and without food and water, This year UNITED SIKHS provided relief to victims of the Myanmar cyclone, Hurricane Ike and Panjab floods. These disasters come unannounced and we have to be prepared to dispatch immediate relief. Donate online or mail your donations, payable to UNITED SIKHS, to a UNITED SIKHS office nearest to you. International Civil and Human Rights Advocacy (ICHRA)

Duval county prison has said they will cut Jagmohan Singh’s hair again, against his religious tenets. We need funds for the legal action to ensure that Sikh prisoners don’t have to lose their religious rights with their liberty. We just concluded a First Global Sikh Civil Rights Conference in NY and have our work cut out to further a Global Sikh Civil Rights Agenda that will tackle hate crime, discrimination, loss of religious rights and bullying. Mail your donation, payable to UNITED SIKHS, to a UNITED SIKHS office nearest to you, For details click here. Read more on our website: http://www.unitedsikhs.org/civil-rights.php

Right to Turban

As you travel through airports during the holiday season, we hope you will be able to do so with dignity and that you will not be asked to remove your turban on your head. Your generous contribution will help us defend your right to religious freedom globally, including ongoing litigation in France and Belgium. Read more on our website: http://www.unitedsikhs.org/rtt

Community Development and Empowerment

The Educare Center NY provides one-stop community education with care. Your donation helps to run classes for homework help, ESL and computing at the New York Educare center. In New Delhi we conduct a monthly Learning Values seminar for youths. An Educare Centre is opening in London next year, which will house a Sikh reference library that will serve as a multifaith education centre to provide Sikhi awareness to students. Plans are afoot to open a Guru Granth Sahib Ji Academy in London.

Your generous contribution can help empower the Sikh community. Read more on our website: http://www.unitedsikhs.org/EduCare/
