Gurdwara Sri Hemkund Sahib closed for winter

hemkund sahibThe famous Sikh shrine and Tap Asthan of Dhan Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj( Sri Hemkund Sahib) in Chamoli district was closed today for pilgrims for the winter.

The doors of the shrine were closed with rituals following which Granthis took the Guru Granth Sahib to Gurdwara Sahib in Gobindghat, for the rest of the winter.

Hemkund Sahib shrine is situated at a height of nearly 14,000 feet and attracts lakhs of pilgrims from home and abroad every year.

The shrine is closed every year in October-November as the area remains snow-bound during the winter.
