Bhai Sahib Bhai Surat Singh Ji ‘Puran Ji’ no more with us

Guru Roop Saadh Sangat Jio it is with grief to announce that the present head (mukhi) of Akhand Kirtani Jatha Bhai Sahib Bhai Surat Singh Ji’Puran Ji’ is no more with us. He left for Satguru’s Abode on 21st December, 2008. Bhai Sahib has motivated 1000s of sikhs to take amrit in his lifetime.

Bhai Sahib himself was a pooran gursikh and recited Gurbani day and night. The astonishing part is that he remembered almost the entire Guru Granth Sahib Ji spread over 1,430 angs(pages). The samapati od Akhand Paath Sahib is today (28th December, 2008) at his residence 37-Brahmbuta Market, Amritsar.

At 9 am in the morning today a special diwan in the hall of Gurdwara Manji Sahib has been kept to pay kirtan tribute ti the legendary Gursikh. It will go on till 2.00 pm and all the the hall will be full of vibes of Akhand Kirtan. “Gurmukh Janam Savaar Dargeh Chaleya”. May waheguru bless us to take inspiration from such Gursikhs.

A short Biography on Bhai Surat Singh Ji’s Lifestyle:

About the living lifestyle of Puran ji, who retired as district manager of the FCI, his son-in-law Kuljit Singh revealed that after retiring to his bed at around 7.30 pm he gets up at 10.45 pm. Then after a bath he goes to Darbar Sahib around 11.45 pm and just after midnight he along with some other devotees starts recitation of Gurbani at the “parikarma”.

“Then he goes to the sanctum sanctorum when its doors open after 2 am and after listening to kirtan he returns. He remains engrossed in reciting “path” in the day also,” he disclosed, adding that “he can listen to kirtan for continuous 12 hours.”
