Sikhs celebrate 381st Prakash Gurpurab of Sri Guru Har Rai ji

Today sikhs all over the world are celebrating the Prakash (birth) Gurpurab of Dhan Sri Guru Har Rai Ji (ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ) who was the 7th of the 10 Gurus of Sikh Religion and was bestowed Guruship in1644 by Guru Har Gobind Sahib Ji(the 6th Gurus).

Mool Mantar known to have be written by 7th Sikh Guru Har Rai Ji.

The brief highlights of Guru ji’s jeevan:

1. Continued the military traditions started by his grandfather Guru Har Gobind Ji
2. Kept 2200 mounted soldiers at all times.
3. Made several tours to the Malwa and Doaba regions of the Punjab.
4. Guruji’s son, Ram Rai, distorts Bani in front of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb, after which the Guru is supposed to have said, ” Ram Rai, you have disobeyed my order and sinned. I will never see you again on account of your infidelity.” and prdered Siks not to mix up with Ram Rayias.
5. By punishing Ram Rai Guru Har Rai Ji sent a clear messages for then and sikhs generations to follow that nobody is allowed to distort bani fo Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji (the present Guru of sikhs).

Before Guru Ji left his physical body(in 1661), he nominated Guru Har Krishan Sahib Ji, as the next(8th) Guru of the Sikhs.
