Today sikhs all over the world are celebrating the Prakash (birth) Gurpurab of Dhan Sri Guru Har Rai Ji (ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ) who was the 7th of the 10 Gurus of Sikh Religion and was bestowed Guruship in1644 by Guru Har Gobind Sahib Ji(the 6th Gurus).

PIL for fast monitoring of 1984 sikh killings filed in Delhi High Court

PIL filed on the state sponsored mass murder of sikhs in 1984.

Jalandhar: A PIL has been filed in the Delhi High Court on 23rd Jan, 2010 to seek constitution of a monitoring committee to track the 1984 anti-Sikh riot cases, Senior Advocate in Supreme Court H S Phoolka said here.

Sikh Sangat fear another arson attack on Blackburn Gurdwara in Melbourne

The president of Melbourne’s largest Sikh Gurdwara has requested additional night-time security from Victoria Police fearing another untoward incident after another Melbourne gurdwara was torched last week. The president said that we feel safe for the moment but are fearful of the future of another arson attack.

An under construct building of Melborune Gurdwara was set on fire down under on January 12, 2010. Past year 400 (more than one a day) Indians have already been attacked in Australia. The attacks have taken an ugly track after a Gurdwara has been set on fire.

Punjab & Sind Bank release excellent calendar for 2010

The history dates back to the year 1908, when three visionary Gursikhs Bhai Sahib Bhai Veer Singh, Sir Sunder Singh Majitha and Sardar Tarlochan Singh aimed to uplift the economic poverty of the poor. This far sightedness gave birth to Punjab & Sind Bank in the holy city of Amritsar. Since then times have gone by and the bank recently celebrated their 100 years of establishment.

Changes Sealed: Sikh Panth to have a new NanakShahi calendar

The Sikh Clergy yesterday approved amendments to the Nanakshahi calendar followed by the Sikh community. Occasions like prakash and jyoti jyot purabs of Sikh gurus will be observed in line with the traditional Bikrami calendar followed before 2003.
