A brief history:  Guru Arjan Dev ji got the Aad Guru Granth Sahib written by Bhai Gurdas ji. The first installation of Aad guru granth sahib was done at Harmandr Sahib, Amritsar in 1604. Baba Buddha was appointed as its first Granthi or keeper.

A texas court has apparently ordered demolition of a $150,000 Gurdwara recently built after the approval from the city authorities. These include Planning & Zoning committees as well as the City Council at large.

Gurmehar Singh impresses world with his climate plan

Washington — Growing up in northern India, Gurmehar Singh learned at an early age to turn off lights when leaving a room and to close the water tap when brushing his teeth. Caring about the environment, he says, “is in my blood.”

Now a 19-year-old student at Guru Nanak Dev Engineering College in Ludhiana, a city of 4.5 million in the state of Punjab, Singh is a tireless advocate for all things green. His biggest undertaking yet: A campaign to make his campus into India’s first carbon-neutral school.

Flying Sikh Milkha Singh to be potrayed on silver screen

San Antonio, TX – Thirty-one year old Captain Tejdeep Singh Rattan today became the first Sikh officer in the US army in over two decades to complete basic training without shedding his turban and other articles of faith.

Rattan, a dentist by profession, graduated from Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas making him the first Sikh officer in a generation to complete the basic training with his turban and beard intact.
