Today sikhs all over the world are celebrating the Prakash (birth) Gurpurab of Dhan Sri Guru Har Rai Ji (ਗੁਰੂ ਹਰਿ ਰਾਇ) who was the 7th of the 10 Gurus of Sikh Religion and was bestowed Guruship in1644 by Guru Har Gobind Sahib Ji(the 6th Gurus).

Mool Mantar known to have be written by 7th Sikh Guru Har Rai Ji.

Today sikhs are celebrating the birthday of Baba Deep Singh Jee. Lets have a look back on the life and martyrdom of this great gursikh.

Early Life: Baba Deep Singh Ji was born on the 20th January 1682 A.D. in the village of Pahuwind in district of Amritsar. His father’s name was Bhai Bhagtu. He went to Anandpur on the Vaisakhi of 1700 A.D., where after obtaining baptism (into Sikhi) he started learning weaponry and riding from the Sikhs. He began learning reading and writing Gurmukhi and interpretation of Guru’s word from Bhai Mani Singh Ji.

PIL filed on the state sponsored mass murder of sikhs in 1984.
Jalandhar: A PIL has been filed in the Delhi High Court on 23rd Jan, 2010 to seek constitution of a monitoring committee to track the 1984 anti-Sikh riot cases, Senior Advocate in Supreme Court H S Phoolka said here.

Sikh Sangat fear another arson attack on Blackburn Gurdwara in Melbourne
The president of Melbourne’s largest Sikh Gurdwara has requested additional night-time security from Victoria Police fearing another untoward incident after another Melbourne gurdwara was torched last week. The president said that we feel safe for the moment but are fearful of the future of another arson attack.

End Domestic Violence Vote on Facebook to build Culturally Diverse Women’s Centers and Domestic Violence Shelters
The Issue : Violence does not discriminate. Every 9 seconds a woman – regardless of race, class, or academic achievement – is battered in the US. 1 in every 4 women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime and 1.3 million women experience it every year. Most cases go unreported due to fear – fear of being alone, fear of further violence, and/or fear for the children’s safety. The Jakara Movement hopes to be a part of the solution to domestic violence.
With government funding dwindling and violence against women on the rise, now more than ever is the time for action.
